Sample Scripts

This page provides information about working with the sample scripts included with the Automation plugin.

Convert Images

Converts selected images (and images in selected directories) using the open-source ImageMagick tools. This script can easily be adapted for other file operations, especially conversion tasks. Features: recursive directory traversal, file masks matching, calling external applications (ImageMagick convert command), progress dialog box, overwrite dialog box with Yes, All, Skip, Skip All and Cancel buttons, error state handling, output log with operation summary. Requires: ImageMagick (either x86 or x64).

Count Lines

Counts lines of selected files (and files in selected directories). Features: recursive directory traversal, file masks matching, progress dialog box, error handling via an error dialog with Retry, Skip, Skip All, and Cancel, regular expressions, output log with operation summary.

Launch Elevated Command Prompt

You can use this script on Windows Vista or later to launch an elevated command prompt from the source directory. On Windows XP this script can launch the command prompt as a different user. This script demonstrates creating and using external automation objects.

Make Link

This script creates a symbolic link to the file or directory currently focused in the source panel. This script demonstrates the use of the InputBox method. Windows Vista or later is required to run the script.

Make List

This script performs a similar function to the Make File List command built into Sally. It creates a list of the items in the source panel, saves it in CSV format, and opens it in the associated application. The script demonstrates use of the MsgBox method and iterating through the items collection.

Unpack Multiple Archives

Unpacks selected archives (and archives in selected directories) using the open-source 7-Zip archiver. This script can easily be adapted for other unpackers. Features: recursive directory traversal, file masks matching, calling external applications (7-Zip archiver), error state handling, output log with operation summary. Requires: 7-Zip (either x86 or x64).
