Getting Started with PictView Plugin

The PictView plugin is an image viewer, converter, and thumbnailer. It opens the image formats that Windows Imaging Component (WIC) decodes: the formats built into Windows, and every format an installed WIC codec adds, such as HEIF, AVIF, WebP, or camera RAW images. It saves images as PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, and GIF.

PictView keeps the look and the commands of the original PictView plugin by Jan Patera, which was built on the PVW32Cnv image library. Sally's PictView is a new implementation that decodes and saves images with WIC inside Sally's process.

See File Viewer, Menu Extension, and Thumbnail Loader sections in Using Plugins for a description of basic work with the plugin viewer, menu extension, and thumbnailer.
