Much of Sally's power comes from plugins. They load only when you first use them, so they cost nothing until then, and Plugins › Plugins Manager turns any of them off.

Scripting with Automation

The Automation plugin runs scripts in any Windows Script Host language. JScript and VBScript come with Windows, and engines for Python, Perl, Ruby and others can be added. Scripts see the panels, the selection and the focused item, and can show progress, ask questions and build their own dialogs. The plugin lists your scripts from the folders you choose and includes samples to start from.

How plugins fit in

A plugin can add an archive format, a file system for the panels, a viewer, menu commands, or several of these. Each has its own menu under Plugins, optional keyboard shortcuts and a button on the plugin bar. Plugins written for Altap Salamander 4.0 can still be loaded, after Sally asks you to trust them, since their binary interface is older.
