Sally: Other Tasks

Opening Command Shell

You can open a command shell window for the current directory.

To open the command shell window:

Menu:Commands/Command Shell
Shortcut key:Num / or Ctrl+/
Toolbar:Choose the Command Shell button on the Top or Middle toolbar.

Choosing which shell opens

Use Commands/Default Shell... to choose what the Command Shell command opens: the command interpreter set by the COMSPEC environment variable (usually Command Prompt), the Windows Terminal default profile, or a particular Windows Terminal profile. Sally remembers your choice. If the chosen shell is no longer available, Sally asks you to choose another one.

Opening a Windows Terminal profile

When Windows Terminal is installed, the Commands/Windows Terminal submenu lists its profiles, for example PowerShell, Command Prompt, or a WSL distribution. Choose a profile to open it in the current directory of the active panel. Opening a profile from this submenu does not change the default shell. The submenu is not shown when Windows Terminal is not installed.

Remarks

UNC paths are not supported in the command shell. If you open a command shell on a UNC path, the Windows directory will be used as the current path.
